Media's impact on holidays

The media has turned Christmas into a commercialized holiday.

Christmas doesn’t have the true meaning that it once had. It seems as if the public forgot about the true meaning of Christmas. I think that over years the media has turned not only Christmas but also many other holidays such as Valentines Day, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, and even Presidents Day into a commercialized holiday.

Where is the investiagtive reporting?

The media ought to produce more investigative reporting.

The media isn’t doing much of any investigative reporting, muckraking as I like to call it.

I don’t understand why or even like the fact that it’s not being done. From what I’ve been told by media scholars it's that the media outlets do not let reporters do investigative stories that much anymore because it’s very expensive to do.

According to Mediashift investigative reporting has changed and because it’s being done by newspaper and magazine reporters. Not investigative reporters.

News Satire Shows :) or :(

Can you get the news from a news satire show? Yes. Can you laugh while watching a news satire show? Yes. Some networks just don’t need to have a news satire show broadcasted on them.

News satire also known as fake news is an altered presented in a formal typical of conventional journalism.

It can be useful when someone is trying to acquire some information about what is going on locally, nationally and also internationally.

Media friend or foe to Obama

The media can make or break you

Why isn't Jennifer Hudson on the cover page?

It appears that certain celebrity figures receive more media coverage than others do whether it is negative and positive media coverage.

Actress and singer Jennifer Hudson is going through a terrible ordeal. Hudson is suffering from the murder of her mother, brother and her young nephew. The police have a suspect in custody at this time and are questioning as to whether or not there may have been another party involved in the murders.

My hearts goes out to Hudson and her family.

That aside I find it very interesting how the media decides what celebrities are front page worthy.

"Yes We Can"

We shall over come, Yes we can

The media did an immense job of covering the 2008 presidential election.

Do all Americans have the right to vote?

The local media networks are not informing the public regarding how voters may not be allowed to vote come November.

Are voters aware that some citizens are being denied their right to vote in this election for varies reasons? Of course they don’t! The question is why? Because there is very little coverage concerning this very important issue.

Freedom of press yea right!

Yes America is known as the land of the free, and that our media is protected by the first amendment. But is it really?

Is America’s media that much different from the way other nation’s media functions?

Product Placement is EveryWhere

Advertisements seem to work there way into everything. There is product placement everywhere you turn.

Major companies seem to work their product into any and everything they possible can. Not just in commercials and ads in news papers, but also in movies and television shows.

Lack of Coverage of the Debate

The media’s coverage of the first Presidential debate held in Oxford, Mississippi Friday evening was incomplete.

Granted each network covered the debate and also had a half hour segment afterwards regarding certain opinions of other high political figures, yet the local news bailey gave much coverage of the debate. There are other important events and crisis taking place around NYC, NYS, and the Tri-state areas, however the debate is a very important event that deserves more than a five minute segment in the local new.
